THE SPLIT & PEEL – matt schwarze Designer-Skulptur von AKCNSTUDIOS, limitierte Art Toy Edition of 50

It sits there. Grinning. Holding something it shouldn't.

THE SPLIT & PEEL is the next designer sculpture by AKCNSTUDIOS – and the first piece of the NOT A TOY collection that doesn't just stand still, but tells a scene: a monkey with a visor peels a banana. Except the banana isn't one.

What THE SPLIT & PEEL is

A limited art toy sculpture in matte black resin. The visor with the white slits is the signature of the collection – the same handwriting as THE NOIR and THE NINE. The grin is deliberately left smooth: the stones are set later, one by one, by hand – not molded in.

  • Size: 12 cm
  • Edition: Edition of 50, numbered and signed by AKCN
  • Material: Resin, matte black
  • Origin: Designed on the iPad, made in Germany

Why a designer sculpture and not a toy

AKCN works on the line between art toy and sculpture. The figures are made for the shelf, the desk, the display case – as an object in the room, not a trading card. That's why the collection is called NOT A TOY. Every piece is individually crafted, refined, numbered and signed. If you're wondering what separates mass production from a limited sculpture, Resin vs. Vinyl has the answer.

The story behind the visor

Everyone wears a mask and smiles – no matter how they feel. Only the eyes tell the truth. That's why AKCNSTUDIOS figures have no face, only eyes. THE SPLIT & PEEL keeps them behind a visor. And grins anyway.
